The Nazareth Swifts came out on top against the Hart Longhorns this past Friday, 67-6. Nazareth offense got things started in the first quarter with a run by Luke Schulte with a 31-yard run for a Swifts touchdown, with Brett Heitschmidt scoring the extra two point.

Tragedy strikes Dalhart football

The Dalhart ISD and community are mourning the death of a football player who passed away after sustaining a serious head injury during a game this past Thursday. Dalhart sophomore and junior varsity player, Yahir Cancino, was seriously injured in the fourth quarter of a game between the Dalhart Golden Wolves and the Sundown Roughnecks, according to the Dalhart ISD.

The Nazareth Swifts won a big victory at their home-game season opener against the Whiteface Antelopes, 63-20. Whiteface got on the board first with a pass completion, putting them in the lead 6-0, but Nazareth answered with a Luke Schulte touchdown to tie the game up.

Dimmitt High School and Middle School cross country athletes

Dimmitt High School and Middle School cross country athletes got the season underway at the Canyon 6-Mile Relay this past Saturday. The varsity boys and DMS boys ranked the highest among competing teams from Dimmitt, both placing fifth overall in large groups of competitors.

The Dimmitt Bobcats dropped their season opener against the Memphis Cyclones, 26-8. Memphis took charge in the first quarter in the first quarter, scoring a touchdown on a 74-yard pass, taking the lead 6-0.

Longhorns fall to Roos, 61-14

The Hart Longhorns faced the Kress Kangaroos on Friday and lost that contest 61-14. The Roos took charge in the first quarter scoring six touchdowns and three extra points, putting them 2 up 48-0.

Rangers continue leadership changes

The Texas Rangers made more organizational changes with the dismissal of Jon Daniels , now the former president of baseball operations and former general manager. After 17 years of leading the club, Daniels' departure came two days after manager Chris Woodward was fired in his fourth season.
