Bobcats fall to Antelopes for Area title

The Dimmitt Bobcats playoff run came to an end last Thursday, when they lost the Area playoff game to the Abernathy Antelopes, 54-30. The Bobcats, with Coach Colby Rives at the helm, was the first team in 16 years to make a playoff run that went to the Area level.

Bobcats capture Bi-District win

The Dimmitt Bobcats traveled to Monahans on Monday to face the Presidio Blue Devils for the Bi-District title and returned with a The starting lineup for Dimmitt was Ivan Moreno, Emiliano Peralta, Daunte Perez, CJ Willey and Gabriel Ontiveros. The first quarter saw the Bobcats leading 20-12.

Gonzales nominated for runner of the year

Dimmitt cross country runner Azariah Gonzales has been nominated for the Texas Panhandle High School Sports cross country Runner of the Year, along with 11 other nominees from Canyon, Amarillo, River Road, Sunray, Texline, Memphis, Tascosa, and Dumas. Gonzales had a strong season and competed at the state meet, placing 29th out of 151 runners. The winner will be announced and the award will be presented this spring ceremony will be held this spring and the winner announced at the Texas Panhandle High School Sports Awards show as a part of the USA TODAY High School Sports Awards, the largest high school sports recognition program in the country.

Swifts win Bi-District title

The Nazareth Swifts won the Bi-District title against the Amherst, 80-33 and will advance to the Area playoffs against Valley. Top shots for Nazareth were Carson Heiman with 14 points, one offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, five assists and one fouls; Tanner Birkenfeld, 14 points, three offensive rebounds, two defensive rebounds, four assists, one steal, one block and four fouls; Sterl Welps, 10 points, one assist, one offensive and defensive rebound, one assist and one foul.

Swiftettes bound for Regional tourney

The Nazareth Swiftettes clenched the quarterfinal win against the Springlake Earth Lady Wolverines on Tuesday night, 63-26, sending them to the Regional tourney semi-finals on Friday in Levelland at South Plains College Texan Dome.

Swiftettes take Bi-District title, 72-8

The Nazareth Swiftettes advanced in the playoffs after scoring a huge bi-district win over the Anton Lady Bulldogs, 72-8, on Tuesday night. Nazareth came in with 31/58 (53%) field goals , 5/14 (36%) 3-pointers, and 5/9 (56%) free throws.

Bobcats capture District Championship

The Dimmitt Bobcats locked down the district championship, shutting down the Brownfield Cubs, 57-53, on Tuesday night, and sending them into the playoffs with a season record of 18-9, 9-3. The Bobcats shot for 23/37 (62%) field goals, sinking 4/8 3-pointers and 7/17 free throws.

County powerlifters strong at Levelland meet

The Dimmitt Bobbies came with a solid performance at the Levelland Powerlifting Meet this past Saturday, placing second out of 16 schools. Sandra Vasquez, junior, placed first in the 132-weight class; and Na’khiyah Porras placed first in the 220-weight class.
