Golfers Jordy, Nicky and Ricky Roland were the Championship Flight winners with a 120 at the annual Don Cornett Golf Tournament held April 30-May 1 at Dimmitt Recreation.

Several former Dimmitt Cross Country runners hit the streets of Lubbock to participate in the Lubbock Mayor’s Marathon. The marathon consisted of two divisions: the 26.2-mile course and the 13.1-mile half marathon or 5K. The marathon serves as a qualifier for the Boston Marathon.

The Dimmitt Bobcats capped off their regular season with two major wins and will head into the playoffs. The first game will be in Shallowater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with the second game 30 minutes after the first game ends. Game three will be played in Dimmitt on Saturday at noon.

The Nazareth Swifts completed their regular season with a perfect 13-0, 6-0 record and are headed into the playoffs. They go into the playoffs ranked the #2 1-A team in the state (behind Ira High School) according to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association polls for April 25.
The Hart Ladyhorns relay team of Paizlie Reyna-Mata, Mia Minjarez, Elycia Gonzales and Toree Jo Evans are headed to the state track meet in the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relays in Austin. In addition to their wins, they also broke school records in both relays.

The Hart Ladyhorns had big wins at the Regional track meet this past weekend at South Plains College that will send them to the State UIL track and field championships in Austin.
(Above) DHS senior Kaylee Lujan earned a ticket to the Regional track meet after placing third in the 200-meter dash. In addition to being a qualifier, Lujan also broke the DHS 200- meter school record at Area with a time of 26.25. The previous record was set in 1985 by S. Killingsworth with a time of 26.98. Lujan will be heading to the US Air Force upon graduation.

Dimmitt track and field athletes had a strong Area meet and will be sending 11 Bobbies and Bobcats to the Regional meet in Abilene in hopes of advancing to the Texas UIL State Meet.

Physical exams for all current Dimmitt High School high school students joining band or athletics will be held May 11. Students have received a flyer with all necessary information and a QR code to complete the physicals packet online at forms.gle/c4YbEno4mVLygJuj6.
