Naz tennis knocked out in semifinals matches

Nazareth mixed and men’s doubles players competed at the Texas UIL State Tennis Championship on April 26. The Naz men’s double team of Trent Gerber and Luke Schulte played Hunter Gutierrez and Zach Ward from Priddy in the quarterfinals, coming out on top 6-4, 7-5 and advancing.

Nazareth track teams competed at the Area Championships on April 20 in Vega, with several athletes qualifying for the Regional meet. Caroline Myrick had a big day, winning the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash and long jump events.

Nazareth Swiftettes Addie Dyer and Mckenzy Corrales have been selected to the Texas Girls Coaches Association All-State team in all conferences for basketball. Athletes are selected from nominations submitted by member coaches by the TGCA Basketball All-State Committee.

Bobcats struggle with two losses

The Dimmitt Bobcats suffered two losses to the Friona Chieftains and the Dalhart Wolves this past week. The Bobcats fell to the Chieftains, 12-1 . Friona took a one-run lead in the first inning and added another four in the second inning while holding the Dimmitt squad to no hits.

Naz Tennis doubles teams Harley Gerber and Carson Heiman and Trent Gerber and Luke Schulte played their way to Regional championship titles and will playing at the state tennis tournament in San Antonio on April 26-27.

DHS track teams attend Brownfield Cub Relays

The Dimmitt Bobcats and Bobbies varsity and junior varsity track teams competed at the Brownfield Cub Relays this past Friday. Eight school attended the meet, including Muleshoe, Brownfield, Tahoka, Littlefield, Dimmitt, Sweetwater, Roosevelt and Pecos.
