The Nazareth Swifts were defeated by the Olton Mustangs on Friday, 72-42. Shifting quickly from football season and playing in the bi-district game, the Swifts athletes got a late start into basketball season.

The Nazareth Swiftettes took on the 3A Canadian Lady Cats on Saturday, narrowly losing 53-50. The Swiftettes took the lead in the first quarter, 14-6, but trailed going into halftime 28-23.

Cross Country runners from Nazareth High School and Dimmitt High School competed at the Texas State XC meet on Nov. 5 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Dimmitt’s Azariah Gonzales placed 29th with a time of 17:00.7 in a field of 151 3A runners.

Golf tourney held to benefit Carrasco

A golf tournament to benefit Crystal Carrasco was held on Oct. 23 at Dimmitt Recreation Country Club. The benefit was organized by Esmeralda Rivera, Ladies Golf and Dimmitt Recreation. Carrasco is currently battling breast cancer and has a long journey ahead of her.

Castro 4-H competes in District Food Challenge

Castro County 4-H’ers competed at the District Food Challenge on Monday with five teams and 17 youth in the contest. In all, the District competition had 480-plus youth and 130 teams competing on five food challenges teams. Each group received a bag of ingredients and made a dish.
