As girls basketball season begins, the Texas Girls Coaches Association released its Nov. 8 poll for rankings, 1A-6A on Monday.
The Nazareth Swiftettes are ranked number two in Class 1A after coming in as state champion runners up this past season, behind Dodd City, who won the state title.

The Nazareth Swifts lost a conference game this past Friday to the Springlake Earth Wolverines, 54-50.
The Wolverines got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on at 54-yard pass and extra points, to take the lead 8-0.

Texas Tech Athletic Director Kirby Hocutt announced the firing of head football coach Matt Wells following the Kansas football game. Sonny Cumbie, offensive coordinator for the Red Raiders was named interim coach as a search for a new head coach gets underway.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders football will be finishing up their season without head coach Matt Wells after a two-plus season in charge of the team.
The loss to Kansas State was the final straw when the Red Raiders blew a 14-point second-half lead and lost 24-25.

Both Dimmitt High School cross county teams qualified to compete at the Regional Meet in Lubbock after the Bobcats placed first in District and the Bobbies placed third.

Both Dimmitt High School cross county teams qualified to compete at the Regional Meet in Lubbock after the Bobcats placed first in District. And the Bobbies placing third. The Regional meet saw the Bobcats with a 7th team placing and the Bobbies with a 22nd.
DHS, NHS runners advance to XC state

The Region 1 XC Championships were held this past Monday in Lubbock, with runners from Dimmitt, Nazareth and Hart all competing.
Three runners qualified for state and will advance: Chloe Birkenfeld and Bryson Brockman, Nazareth High School, and Azariah Gonzalez from Dimmitt High School.

The Nazareth Swifts won a nail biter against the Kress Kangaroos in the final seconds of the game, 41-40, this past Friday, advancing them to a spot in the playoffs.
The Swifts scored the first down on a 1- yard rush and touchdown by Luke Schulte, putting them on the board 6-0.
