Dimmitt and Hart powerlifting teams competed at the Dimmitt Invitational Powerlifting Meet on Feb. 16. The girls competition had 28 lifters from five schools.

While there is no way to predict who advances and who doesn’t, Castro County has some great teams moving into and through the playoffs. Three teams – Nazareth Swifts and Swiftettes, and the Dimmitt Bobcats are in the state high school basketball playoffs.

Valentine’s Day here at Rhoads Memorial Library started off less than special when a brownout occurred about 11:30 that morning, followed by a blackout that lasted until 12:50 p.m. Our descent into darkness had us scrambling for flashlights as we realized how helpless we were without electricity.

County Conservation Partners to host local work group meeting

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) in Castro County and the Running Water Soil and Water Conservation District is seeking input from the public on how to best serve local citizens through Farm Bill conservation programs and technical assistance.
