Rangers continue leadership changes

The Texas Rangers made more organizational changes with the dismissal of Jon Daniels , now the former president of baseball operations and former general manager. After 17 years of leading the club, Daniels' departure came two days after manager Chris Woodward was fired in his fourth season.
Getting the school year kicked off in full swing, the Dimmitt High School student council hosted a Watermelon Fest on Aug. 17 complete with watermelon, corn hole tournament, music and games and lots of fun.

Annual Swift, Swiftette Color Run set for Sat. 10

The Annual Swift/Swiftette Color run will be held on Sept. 10. Both runners and walkers are welcome. T-shirts will be provided if registered by Aug. 27. The cost is $25 for adults and $20 for 18 and under. Children not in school are free but must be registered and pay $8 to get a T-shirt.

Students attending public school percentage down

According to a new poll from Education Next, an education policy publication, found that enrollment in public schools has dropped by 4 percent over the last two years. That 4 percent decline represents nearly 2 million students.

A wedding shower was held to honor Syrena Larra and Chuy Aguero at the beautiful home of Vicki Buckley on Saturday, Aug. 13. The serving table was adorned with an elegant cream-colored fringe runner and with natural accents. The table was decorated with a glass vase, greenery and natural baskets.

Red Raiders Day of Giving tops fundraising goal

The Red Raiders inaugural Texas Tech Day of Giving brought in donors from coast to coast to raise three times the fundraising goal. Thanks to the generosity of more than 1,200 Red Raiders from 33 states, more than $300,000 was raised to benefit students and projects across the university.
