James A. Buxkemper, 81 of Nazareth, Texas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, in Lubbock. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Nov. 6, at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Arokiaraj Samala, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld, and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants.

Legendary coach passes away

Coach Dean Weese, legendary coach in the Texas Panhandle, passed away on Oct. 28, leaving behind an incredible legacy of basketball coaching. Weese amassed an amazing 1,207-197 record in a 42year coaching career at the high school, colligate and professional levels.

Bobby Lee (Bob) Kay passed away on Oct. 17. Bob was born to Ovry Virgil Kay and Minnie B. (King) Kay in Maysbelle, Garvin Co., Oklahoma. The family moved to Texas when he was 14. He attended Plainview High School where he enjoyed sports, especially basketball and football.
