The Dimmitt ISD board of trustees approved contracting with Health Special Risk, Inc (HSR) as the student accident provider for the school year 2022-2023. Health Special Risk is one the nation’s leading underwriting managers for special risk and accident and health insurance and covers educational institutions for accidents as well as supervised student participation in sports and other activities.

A Hereford resident died after colliding with a truck and semi-trailer this past Thursday morning. Rachel Martinez, 39 of Hereford, was driving a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu traveling west on US 60 in the inside lane approximately 8 miles west of Hereford in Castro County.

In March, the seasonally adjusted Texas unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, a decrease of 0.3 percentage points from February 2022, and 2.0 percentage points below the level set one year ago. The not seasonally adjusted rate was 3.9 percent.
