Heitschmidt selected to be Ambassador at Texas FFA Convention

Nazareth FFA Ryan Heitschmidt, senior, has been chosen to be one of the Senior Ambassadors at the upcoming Texas FFA Convention in July. Ambassadors, around 70, are chosen out of the possible 129,000 Texas FFA members and will have the opportunity to work face-to-face with sponsors and special guests, behind the scenes at the State FFA Convention.

Texas Senate passes border bill

The Texas Senate on Thursday passed SB 1254, which would protect Texans from the failures of the federal government to secure the Southern border. According to the author of the bill, State Senator Bob Hall, SB 1254 permits Texas to enter into an interstate compact with one or more states, allowing state compact members to enforce border security, traditionally a federal enforcement right.

Sales tax allocations up across state

Comptroller Glenn Hegar distributed nearly $1.1 billion in monthly sales tax revenue to local governments this past week. Hagar said the allocations for this May were 28.4 percent more than May 2020, and 21.9 percent more than May 2019.
