Naz Swifts move on to Regional Quarterfinals

The Nazareth Swifts rolled past Follett 20-0 in their Bi-District Championship game and, thus far, remain undefeated this season and ranked #2 in the state for 1-A teams. They will play the Borden County Coyotes (15-8 record according to MaxPreps) in the Regional Quarterfinals set for May 12 in Littlefield with the first game beginning at 4:30 p.m., and the second game starting 30 minutes after completion of the first. Should it be necessary, a third game will be played in Lamesa on May 13 with a start time of 4 p.m. Should the Swifts emerge with a Regional Quarterfinals Championship win, they will play the winner of the Kress Kangaroos vs Springlake Wolverines game, according to UIL brackets.

Ramsey to receive scholarship

Nazareth senior Tagan Ramsey will be receiving a $10,000 Texas 4-H Foundation McLean Estate Scholarship. The Texas 4-H Foundation promotes and supports youth development in leadership, vocational skills, critical thinking, social skills and citizenship, as well as raising money for 4-H.

Former Dimmitt XC runners compete in marathon

Several former Dimmitt Cross Country runners hit the streets of Lubbock to participate in the Lubbock Mayor’s Marathon. The marathon consisted of two divisions: the 26.2-mile course and the 13.1-mile half marathon or 5K.

Bobcats advance into playoffs

The Dimmitt Bobcats capped off their regular season with two major wins and will head into the playoffs. The first game will be in Shallowater at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, with the second game 30 minutes after the first game ends. Game three will be played in Dimmitt on Saturday at noon.

Swifts on the road to playoffs

The Nazareth Swifts completed their regular season with a perfect 13-0, 6-0 record and are headed into the playoffs. They go into the playoffs ranked the #2 1-A team in the state (behind Ira High School) according to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association polls for April 25. Trent Gerber was on the mound and pitched a 17-strikeout perfect against Claude to close out the season.
