Beef cattle conference set for August 9

A beef cattle conference will be offered Aug. 9 by the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Gray County in the Gray County Annex, 12126 E. Frederic Ave., Pampa. The program will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The cost is $10 at the door, and lunch will be provided.

Hobbs mother stabs son to death

Bodycam footage and a 911 call has been released showing the moments after 11-year-old Bruce Johnson Jr., was stabbed in the back. His mother, Mary Johnson, is accused of stabbing Bruce on July 10, who later died of his injuries.

Amarillo College and West Texas A&M University are to return enrollment in post-secondary education after a drop in numbers during the pandemic. In charge of WTAMU enrollment is Mike Knox. Knox said the WTAMU goal is to expand its student population, both online and offline, from 10,000 to 15,000.

July state sales tax revenue $3.9B

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar today said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.88 billion in July, 14.7 percent more than in July 2021, and the highest monthly collections on record. The majority of July sales tax revenue is based on sales made in June and remitted to the agency in July.
