Texas Farm Bureau set to hold annual meeting

Farmers and ranchers across the Lone Star State will meet in Corpus Christi in December as part of the 88th annual meeting of the Texas Farm Bureau (TFB), the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization. The annual meeting is set for Dec. 3-5 at the American Bank Center in Corpus Christi.

The Castro County Sheriff’s Office is kicking off its annual Toy Drive to benefit the children of Castro County who may not be as fortunate. Last year the Sheriff’s Office was able to provide toys to more than 60 to70 children in Castro County.

Castro County is under a 90-day BURN BAN due to dry conditions and no precipitation, Castro County Commissioner's Court placed the county under a burn ban from Nov. 22 until Feb. 21, 2022. Any burn ban violations can result in a citation with the fine not to exceed $500.

Tragedy struck Friday afternoon when a pickup truck traveling the wrong direction drove head on into an Andrews ISD band bus on Interstate 20 in Big Spring as it traveled to an Area playoff game in Sweetwater. Three men were killed in the fiery crash and several injured.
