A salute to my dentists

Every morning when my mirror smiles back, I am grateful to two dentists who have helped me for decades. They must be darn good, because thanks to regular visits I’ve retained excellent cuspids, bicuspids, plus a host of workable molars. I am not the best patient.

This is an oldie - but a goodie. A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age, she considered herself to be very liberal, and among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to support more government programs.

Hippocrates wrote, in Of the Epidemics, “The physician must…. have two special objects in view with regard to disease, namely, to do good or to do no harm.” But it seems that the Texas Medical Board does not see it that way.

A harmless drag show? No such thing.

West Texas A&M University will not host a drag show on campus. It was advertised for March 31, 2023, as an effort to raise money for The Trevor Project. The nonprofit organization focuses on suicide prevention—a noble cause—in the LGBTQ community.

Health Maintenance

Did you ever have a perfect day, 24 hours when everything went right? I had one yesterday, and it scared me. I woke up at seven, feeling great. That’s crazy, because if I breathe normally before my morning coffee, something’s not right.

Tooth of the Matter

I got an e-mail from one of my newspaper friends wondering when old toothbrushes should be switched out for new ones. Frankly, I know little about the mouth, but I once gave an oral report. And I must admit my teeth aren’t all mine, but they will be after three more payments.
