2021-22 Dimmitt High School Cheerleaders – Dimmitt HS cheerleader enjoyed their first day of a week-long cheer camp: Caitlan Olmos, Klancy Bruton, Nina Vasquez, Anayi Comparon, Rosalinda Comparon, Karla Perez, Kennia Silva, Kriselle Ramirez, Na’Khiyah Porras, Beatriz Lozona and Hannah Simpson (mascot). Krisse Bruton is the cheer sponsor.

Naz FFA Landry Kleman had a successful weekend at the Junior State Limousin Show. Kleman came in with a Division Champion and two Reserve Division Champions. He was also elected to serve on the Junior Board of Directors for the Texas Limousin Association.

Texas Tech baseball continues to forge ahead into the future, with two big announcements. Texas Tech has reached an agreement with Coach Tim Tadlock for a lifetime contract.

Any school break can be a training challenge for high school athletes, but summer has unique issues. Not only is the time off from school and practice longer than at other breaks, but summer heat also adds a formidable risk factor.

At some point the rain will stop and people will have the opportunity to explore the Texas Panhandle for summer excursions. The great thing is, it can be done on day trips or a regular vacation.

The Texas Girls Coaches Association Track Committee selected Nazareth senior Emma Kleman as a 1a-4a Legacy All-Star among the 20 All-Stars from conferences 1-4 in track and field. Kleman won the state title in the 3200-meter run and was runner-up in the 1600-meter run. The TGCA is composed of track and field member coaches of the association and selections are made from nominations submitted by member coaches.

The Swifts won the Semi-Final Championship against the Kress Kangaroos on Tuesday, 8-1, and will advance to the Regional finals, playing either Baird or Westbrook. The Semi-Final game was a single winner take all, and the Swifts got the job done.
