The Nazareth Swifts came through with a strong win over the Groom Tigers on Friday, 40-22. Groom took the lead in the first quarter, scoring a touchdown on a 30-yard pass with extra points, 8-0.

Benefit chili cookoff, golf tourney set for Sept. 25

It’s that time of year again for the Highway to Hell-O Terlingua 9th Annual Chili Cookoff sponsored by the Pink Ladies. The Dimmitt Fire Department will also be hosting a 2-Man Golf Tournament. The event will be held on Sept. 25 at Dimmitt Recreation & Country Club.

With current year licenses expiring on Aug. 31, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) have advised that hunting and fishing licenses are now available for purchase for the 2021-22 hunting season. The exception is the Year-from-Purchase-All-Water-Fishing Package.

Sod Poodles lose Thomas, Frias

The Amarillo Sod Poodles will be losing two fan favorites on the roster. Outfielder Alek Thomas and RHP Luis Frias were promoted to the Diamondbacks Triple-A Reno Aces this past Monday. Thomas, 21, finished his season in Amarillo hitting a .288 batting average with 41 RBI and 10 home runs.
