Swiftettes edged out by Lady Cats, 53-50

The Nazareth Swiftettes took on the 3A Canadian Lady Cats on Saturday, narrowly losing 53-50. The Swiftettes took the lead in the first quarter, 14-6, but trailed going into half-time 28- 23 Ṅazareth outscored the Lady Cats in the third quarter, to tie the game up heading in the final period, 40-40.

Castro 4-H competes in District Food Challenge

Castro County 4-H’ers competed at the District Food Challenge on Monday with five teams and 17 youth in the contest. In all, the District competition had 480-plus youth and 130 teams competing on five food challenges teams.

Swifts fall to Wolverines, 54-50

The Nazareth Swifts lost a conference game this past Friday to the Springlake Earth Wolverines, 54-50. The Wolverines got on the scoreboard in the first quarter on at 54-yard pass and extra points, to take the lead 8-0.

Texas Tech fires head football coach

The Texas Tech Red Raiders football will be finishing up their season without head coach Matt Wells after a two-plus season in charge of the team. The loss to Kansas State was the final straw when the Red Raiders blew a 14-point second-half lead and lost 24-25.

Basketball season is upon us as players prepare for the first scrimmages of the season and then the games start coming fast and furiously. Before everyone gets too serious about their team winning or the complaints about referees start, maybe some laughter is in order.

Dimmitt HS cross country qualify for regionals
